In June 2020, as part of our commitment to responsible production, Teck joined ResponsibleSteel™, a not-for-profit organization and the steel industry’s first global multi-stakeholder standard and certification initiative.
ResponsibleSteel™ comprises members from all stages of the steel supply chain, as well as civil society and downstream users. Together, these groups have worked to develop an independent certification standard and program, using a process that aligns with the ISEAL* Codes of Good Practice.
“Steel is an essential building block for society and Teck is committed to responsible production of steelmaking coal and zinc, which are both important inputs to the steelmaking process. Joining ResponsibleSteel™ is part of our focus on collaborating with our customers and mining peers to further improve environmental and social performance across the industry.”
– Marcia Smith, Senior Vice President, Sustainability & External Affairs
